You will see crash barriers on many of the roads you drive on. They are there to keep you and other road users safe in the event of an accident. What you may not know is that some designs are superior to others. Our team has put in a great deal of effort to ensure that we can provide the best ones on the market.
Barriers are very common these days. This is because they are a vital safety measure. Each country uses them as government bodies know they function well to reduce the chance of serious injury.
How much danger is there?
With roadside hazards, you must review them for the danger they pose to every road user. This is based on the space from the edge of the road, firmness, shape, and size. A barrier will be necessary if coming into contact with one would cause less chance of serious injury than striking the obstacle. For example, if it is a solid concrete post or a bridge support, a barrier will be much better.
As well as deciding you actually need a barrier, you must ensure you have the right type in each location.
Roadside barrier
These are great when you need to protect traffic from roadside hazards or obstacles. Examples include slopes that can result in rollover crashes. They also protect against fixed objects like bodies of water and bridge piers.
Median barrier
Another type would be the median barrier. You would use these to prevent vehicles from crossing over medians and hitting oncoming vehicles. They differ from road barriers because the design requires them to be able to withstand impacts from both sides.
